LIG Marine Managers, established 1989 and privately owned, is an industry-leading provider of commercial marine insurance helping clients to identify exposure and close coverage gaps. We are looking for an organized, efficient, full-time Underwriting Assistant. You'll describe yourself as bright, meticulous and professional. You will be expected to work well with clients and coworkers, issue quotes and simple endorsements, and generally ensure that the office operations are running smoothly. We want you to have strong computer skills and demonstrate your understanding of insurance concepts.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in delivering a high level of customer service, with excellent time management and written and verbal communication skills. You should have an interest in learning and understanding commercial insurance principles and be committed to doing it right.
What You’ll Do
Review and Prepare New and Renewal files, including applications and MODs
Work closely with the Underwriters and Manager to complete and compile necessary account information
Prepare quotes, prepare and send binding documents to Agents
Service Bound Accounts – tasks include but are not limited to process AOR/BOR/NOC, endorsements, loss control, cancellations, audits, and internal accounting documents
Key indicators of success in this role are attention to detail and follow through, commitment to continual improvement, proven teamwork and communication skills, passion for quality, and an awareness of when and how to ask for help when you need it.
You should be able to accurately and independently maintain paper files on accounts after one month, and prepare quotes, endorsements, and binders after three months.
Skills You’ll Have
Experience in commercial P & C or workers' compensation underwriting/servicing.
Able to handle agent requests and correspondence
Able to manage a high-volume environment with tight deadlines and able to organize and prioritize independently and on the fly
Effective verbal and email communication with coworkers and clients
Intermediate level of skill with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
Intermediate level of skill with office equipment including copiers, computers, and phones
Able to deliver a high level of customer service to agents and clients via email and phone
Able to work as part of a team
